Parades

If you'd like to attend a parade, please call Cheryl Sinnott at Home: 435-1099, Fax: 435-0415, Cell: 471-6973 or e-mail [email protected]

Apple Blossom Parade

This parade is rain or shine and begins promptly at 1pm. Please note that by 11am, traffic in the area is quite bad, so we highly recommend that you arrive before that. GPAC representatives will be at the staging area by 10am.

We meet at the Agricultural Center on Main Street in New Minas / Wolfville. Take exit 12 off the 101 and when you come down from the off ramp, turn right at the lights and then continue down until you hit main Street. Turn left at that set of lights and go for less than 5 minutes and you will see the Agricultural center on the left side of the road. Turn up the driveway and we are usually about half way up the hill on the left side under the trees beside the old barn.

There will be a canopy in case it rains. Be prepared for either really hot or really cold weather as the last few years have had nothing in between.

There is a map of the parade route in the files section of the discussion group so take a look if you aren't sure where you are going. There are bathroom facilities at the staging area, as wel as a BBQ at the bottom of the hill.

Please contact Cheryl at 471-6973 if you get lost on the way to the parade or need any additional information. Hopefully we will have a great group of dogs there. We will also have a support van in the parade in case of emergency and to help get all our stuff to the other end of the parade.

Yarmouth Christmas Parade

Date: Saturday, November 22nd
Time: 6:00pm

Location: 21 William Street

Greyhounds gather between 5-5:15pm, joining the support van on Bond street by 5:30pm. Parade ending at Paper Trails on Starrs Road. Costumes will be simple.

Email Judi for details [email protected] or call 648-2717.

Annual Spryfield Santa Claus Parade

It's time once again for the Annual Spryfield Santa Claus Parade. The parade is Sunday, November 30, 2008, AT 1:00 PM. The parade will start at Punch Bowl Drive and end at South Centre Mall. Assemble at the starting location by 12:15pm.

Most importantly, make sure your grey is dressed in his/her Christmas best! Put a jacket on your pups, and decorate the jacket with garland, christmas decorations, battery operated lights, etc. Some reindeer ears also go a long way. Just be sure whatever you put on your dog is harmless and will not pose any safety risks. Also, we always bring some candy to hand out to the crowd along the way. So if you have any leftover from Halloween, hold onto it and give it out at the parade. You'll put a smile on lots of kids faces!

Pictou County Lobster Carnival and Parade

Last year for the first time we were in the Pictou Lobster Carnival Mardis Gras Parade. We had about 10 dogs which was a great turn out for our first entry. We are going to participate again this year as it is great advertising for GPAC in an area that we only have a few dogs. It is in the evening so it is nice and cool and is a fairly short route so not really hard on the dogs or you.

Pumpkin Regatta

GPAC will be participating in the Children's Wish Pumpkin Regatta Parade in Windsor this weekend. There are currently 18 dogs waiting for adoption, so this parade provides GPAC with a perfect opportunity to promote adoption. It's only 40 minutes from Halifax, so it's definitely worth the trip, and there are family events going on all day.

The theme for the parade is "Pumpkin Kids. We thought it would be fun if volunteers would dress their grey in a halloween costume. It'll certainly draw attention to us!
